Hello everyone. As far as the summer goes I’ve been good and am having fun taking a break from school. Last weekend I had the most fun day of the summer — LeBron James held a bike-a-thon for kids in Akron, OH, my hometown. He invited Dar and me down to meet him and see the show after the race. I’ll just say that Lebron James is too big to be human. He said he had seen the story and said it was amazing. Dartanyon and I danced on stage with Lebron, Nick Cannon, Lil JJ, and others. I thought that to be awesome that someone so high up is still so down. I felt a little stupid because I had nothing to say but “WOW.”
Next week my first flight on an airplane is coming up and I am kind of nervous. My first flight is to Arizona to see if Collins College has everything to accommodate my needs. And see what some of the classes are going to be like. Then I know what I need and what to expect. It is also to see if the housing is accessible to me and make sure I like the area. I will be sharing that moment with someone I consider to be family — Justin Hons. He is one of my favorite teachers and the assistant wrestling coach. He basically made me. He will be there to guide me and ask the questions that I need to know when I fly alone and get to school.
If everything goes well, I will start school at Collin in November thanks to all of you who have helped. And to everyone who helped and wrote in, thank you all so much. It’s hard for me to express how it makes me feel. I will keep you all updated on how things go. Arigato and jyane (thank you and see you).

So exciting to hear what you have been doing! Wait until I tell my fourteen year old son who you and Dartanyon got to meet! I loved how you described LeBron to be too big to be human! Either before school or after I will have him read your most recent posting as well as Dartanyon’s. What an exciting upcoming trip; wonderful to see how open and honest you are about your feelings. It would be wonderful to hear more about your trip and what you find at Collins. I have patients with CP with accessability challenges who have adapted to college life and SOARED! As their doctor, it has been beyond rewarding to watch and beam at their accomplishments and to see how proud they are of themselves. So much out there for you to discover…..
Your first plane ride.. oh my gosh.. you will love it! Its so cool! I think its great that your coach/family can go with you. Its good to have another set of eyes n ears looking out for you.
I hope Collins can accomodate your needs and you can start your college journey. Its such an incredible part of growing up.. not just for the sake of learning but the real life education you receive as well.
My prayers are with you and Dar! You truly inspire me to be a better person.. and I can’t thank you enough
I hope Collins meets your needs Leroy, and look foward to hearing about your college experience. My college wrestler son shared your story with me. My younger son has some disabilities, and was inspired by your story & your not wanting pity. Good luck, you have many people wishing great things for you!
How were your flights to and from Arizona? What were your impressions of Collins? Many, many of us are hoping all went well. Share when you have the time!
