If you are visiting this site, you are part of a community of people who have been moved in some way by the friendship, drive, and ongoing journey of Dartanyon Crockett and Leroy Sutton.

As you likely know, Dartanyon and Leroy graduated from Lincoln-West High School in Cleveland in June 2009, crossing the stage together, each achieving a goal despite his own challenges. It was a beginning, not an ending.
Dartanyon has suffered from Leber’s Disease, a condition causing chronic visual loss, for most of his life. He is legally blind.

That did not stop him from carrying his wrestling teammate and best friend, Leroy Sutton, on his back to and from every match they competed in this past season. At age eleven, Leroy lost his left leg below the knee, and his right leg below the hip, when he was struck by a train on his way to school.

The two were inseparable through their season, the wrestler with no legs being carried by the one who cannot see. The bond between the two young men, as depicted on television and in print, has prompted a remarkable reaction regarding their future hopes to continue their educational goals. Each has been accepted to college but needs help with tuition and the associated costs of pursuing a degree.
Dartanyon is enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland and begins in August.  His goal is to transfer to a four-year university as soon as he can afford it and then pursue law school. He had excellent attendance and competed in multiple sports. He has a summer job and he saving what he can for school. He has qualified for some financial aid.

Leroy has been accepted to Collins College, in Phoenix, AZ. He is a gifted artist, and Collins is a private graphic design school. Leroy aspires to become a video game designer. He will also receive some financial aid, but it will not be enough to cover his total expenses, travel, physical therapy, etc. Going away for college will be an empowering experience for him.

As a response to the outpouring of interest in helping Leroy and Dartanyon, a trust fund has been established. The fund is called Carry On For Education Trust, benefitting Leroy Sutton and Dartanyon Crockett. Donations to the trust will be used solely for Dartanyon and Leroy’s tuition, fees, books, travel, laptops, adaptive equipment and living expenses. The executors of the trust will closely assess the boys’ needs in the coming years. If you prefer to send a check, please send it to:
